Public Health Councils
Filipino Migrant Center has been recognized as a Certified Worker Organization by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
FMC is currently supporting LADPH in their effort to advance the Public Health Council (PHC) program. Under this program, FMC staff seek to provide employers with a firm understanding of Cal/OSHA’s Temporary Emergency Standards, facilitate ongoing COVID-19 safety and education, promote vaccination opportunities and outreach to workers, and assist in the formation of worker-led Public Health Councils.
Public Health Councils are comprised of workers who help educate their co-workers about the importance of implementing COVID-19 safety protocols in the workplace and help to ensure Cal/OSHA’s Temporary Emergency Standards are followed. PHCs, once formed, will be supported by FMC staff.
If you are interested in forming a Public Health Council within your workplace, or if you have additional questions about this program, please email us at phc@filipinomigrantcenter.org or call us at (562) 302 - 1968.
