Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are an integral part of our organization and helps us achieve our vision and mission. There are many volunteer opportunities available, no matter what your age or ability is. We believe that everyone can give back to their community! Here are a few examples of our different volunteer needs:
EDUCATION
Compile resources and information to be shared with the community, including making flyers and infographics. Helping teach workshops on topics such as Know Your Rights education, filing for unemployment, culture & history, or even teaching skills like public speaking or computer literacy.
FUNDRAISING
We’re always looking for ways to fundraise for people’s needs and provide more services and programs! Help us increase our capacity to do this by thinking of fun, creative ways to fundraise and helping us share the great community work we do.
OUTREACH
Meet new people by promoting our programs and services to the community, including our hotline number for urgent cases. Build new relationships and partnerships with individuals and organizations such as neighborhood associations, churches, school clubs, and other places Filipinos gather.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
Communicate with other volunteers and spread the word about any new opportunities that come up. Help us recruit new volunteers and take part in developing the leadership skills of others!
INTAKES
Connect with community members to better understand their needs and find out how we can provide social and economic assistance. Follow up with people on a regular basis and build genuine, lasting relationships with community members. Refer people to other organizations or resources as needed.
HAVE OTHER IDEAS? WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
We believe that everyone can be part of making a positive change in the community. If there are other ways you’d like to contribute, please let us know!
What Other Volunteers Are Saying
“I wanted to get in touch with my Filipino roots and support the community as much as I could. While volunteering with children and seniors through FMC’s programs, I learned that the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ is about connecting and empowering people no matter what age they are.”
— Cherlin, Youth and Senior Program Volunteer
“Volunteering through FMC has been one of the highlights of my year. I am happy to lend my time because the work we do today helps the Long Beach community ten years into the future.”
— Hailey, Census Volunteer
“I start making the rounds to the different families…and I love getting to catch up and say ‘hi’ each week. One of my favorite aspects is seeing the love shared between several generations of family members.”
— Megan, Bayanihan Community Response Volunteer
